Relaxing the tendency to be “born” or to identify as anyone or anything.
Simple
- Find the part of mind that forms the the feeling or sense of “I am ____” and let it relax. Do not engage in giving “birth” to feelings of identification being “born”.
Detailed
- Bring awareness to any sense of identification present.
- Examples:
- Any feeling of “I am _____” (old/young, man/woman, happy/unhappy, tired/wound up, good/bad, etc).
- Any feeling of “I am doing _____” (looking, listening, thinking, trying, being lazy, meditating, etc.)
- Examples:
- Relax and release the subject of identification.
- Release the perceived role that has been identified as or feels like “me”.
- As the subject of identification is relaxed, the objects of identification will increasingly find no place to land.
- Happiness or sadness for instance may show up or be present, but there is no subject “me/they” that these phenomena can attach to, so they simply pass by.
- Do not engage in giving “birth” to new subjects or roles of identification. Remain unborn.
- Release any inclinations toward forming a sense of identification whenever they arise.
