Patinissagga, or tossing back, is a radical return to nature, letting go of all that has been wrongly perceived to be I/me/mine. The instructions may be simple but the practice can be very deep.
Simple
- Relax and ground body and mind.
- Open up, relax, and let all thoughts and experience continually pass through without any action or reaction to any of them.
Detailed
- Place the body in a stable, safe, relaxed and grounded position that can be kept for an hour or more without concern.
- This practice can be greatly aided by spending the first part of the practice noticing the breath, noticing body sensations across the whole body experience, reciting Buddha/Guan Yin’s name, etc. to stabilize body and mind experience.
- Open up and relax any sense of control or doing, welcome all experience to pass through unimpeded.
- Let everything go by continuously without stirring mind into action.
- Whenever mind has been stirred up, simply open up, relax any sense of control or doing and continue to welcome all experience as it passes through.
