The first method to try

Practicing the mantra, the mind and body naturally play themselves out until watchful rest manifests.

If curious about emptiness and the perfection of wisdom, please try the practice method below. For many, this method will bring deep results while remaining both simple and accessible throughout daily life.

  • Begin continuously reciting a mantra with the mouth and breath.
    • For best results, employ a mantra that evokes kindness and compassion. A-mi-to-fo (Amitabha Buddha’s name) and Oṃ-maṇi-padme-hūṃ (Avalokiteśvara’s mantra of compassion) can both work quite well.
  • Let intuition guide the speed of the mantra practice, moment to moment.
  • Once mantra is happening in synergy with intuition, simply watch the mantra practice occurring.
    • Thoughts that show up during this process will be noticed as well. Simply watch and let mantra continue.
  • Continue to notice how intuition guides the mantra, noticing thoughts as well.
  • Eventually the mantra naturally grows quieter or falls silent, continue noticing thoughts.
  • Rest, noticing thoughts as they appear, play out and self-liberate.
    • Let intuition re-introduce the mantra if needed.
  • Continue the practice throughout the day.
