This very direct method of practice is inspired by Ajahn Sumedho and his teachings. Notice the experience, however it is, right now. Simply notice that right now, it’s like this. Now it’s like this. What is it like to experience that which is knowing this?
- Open up awareness and notice what is occurring across the 5 senses and the mental experience. No special concentration is needed, simply notice whatever is already being experienced.
- While noticing what is occurring, say gently (out-loud or internally) “It’s like this…”. Letting “this” represent whatever is occurring in that moment.
- Notice what “this” is like to experience.
- Repeat this process and notice what “this” is like to experience, again and again.
- Now begin to move awareness from experiencing “this” to experiencing experiencing as it takes place.
- What does it feel like to be or feel experiencing as it occurs? Continually feel what experiencing is like. Notice how experiencing takes no special effort, rest and feel it as it occurs.
