Letting the silt settle

  • Put the body into a comfortable and alert position, align with gravity. Begin to feel the whole body all at once and relax and soften anything that stands out. Over time the body will soften and quiet.
  • As the body quiets, expand to feel the whole experience all at once, mental and physical. Notice thoughts, and also notice knowing. Notice when the mind goes to something, notice when the mind tries to pull away and how in between those there is a place where there is simply knowing. Over time the mind will brighten and phenomena will be known more easily and in greater detail.
  • This mind is still like cloudy water full of silt. Continuously return to resting back in the knowing, a lack of mind moving toward or away from anything. Allow the silt to settle, and the mind will begin to become clearer and brighter, still, stable, expansive.
  • Continue allowing the silt to settle. Where does it land? What if it had no place to land…?
