Leaving space

Our thinking, our solutions, our problems, our plans. On a fundamental level we cannot operate in an awakened fashion because the feeling and identification as ‘me’ is a mistaken conception rooted in ignorance.

Moment to moment, we are being born, and we die. Outflows, uninvited reactions and opinions, hindrances and fetters, these things all attach to (or spring from) identifying as someone or something. What a mess it seems.

But the solution is not messy. It is simple and it is always there.

It must be uncovered, and then remembered at first.

Many names: Dharmakaya, Buddha nature, the Dao, middle-way reality. Where body, mind and the world comes from and goes to.

It operates freely whenever space is left for it. The very same space that the idea of “me” is so used to filling.

Leave that space available. Wait for its thoughts, perspectives, and understandings. Simply leave space for it to speak if it is going to speak, and act if it is going to act. Don’t interject, be a good listener, patient.

Right now, cease thinking and wait to see what it thinks and does.

Watching, learning, wisdom develops. This begins the entry into prajnaparamita.

Eventually we may forget to forget about it. It is finally allowed to freely operate after sitting in the background for so long.

It has never been an “it”. Suchness being such. Words fall away here.
