In this guide you will find three approaches to liberating Dharma practice are described:
- Returning to Nature
- The Mysterious Pass
- The Inner Sound
Each is rooted in the interplay between wuwei, ziran and weiwuwei. Each leads to realization of true nature. In addition, each can serve as a helpful practice after realization has taken place.
This short guide was created to give a brief overview and to help serve as a pointer towards the more in-depth guides in this section.
Returning to Nature
Returning to Nature has a direct and immediate quality to it. Absolutely everything can be worked with as soon as there is some understanding around how to practice in this way. Before there is understanding and confidence in how it works, this method may be too difficult for some to trust.
The Mysterious Pass
The Mysterious Pass puts distraction and proliferation of thoughts to work, turning the problem into the fuel that leads to liberation. While also very direct, it feels a bit more gentle and understandable from the beginning, and so it can be easier to trust for those running into problems with Returning to Nature.
The Inner Sound
Practices with the Inner Sound are only available to those that perceive it. This practice is uncomplicated but it also requires great diligence. It involves unwavering examination of the inner sound throughout as much of each day as possible, and is perhaps the simplest method to use while typing or while engaged in conversation. There is some overlap in the feeling of working with this this method and the Mysterious Pass practice.
Wrapping things up
If when faced with feelings of entanglement or vexation, you are drawn to the practice of dropping it all without hesitation (like in the game “hot potato”), then please try working with Returning to Nature.
If you are drawn to the practice of transforming entangled thoughts and feelings into tools, feeling for their source and end, then please try working with the Mysterious Pass.
If you perceive the Inner Sound and are open to continually experiencing and learning about it, then please try working with the Inner Sound.
Kindness and compassion will naturally surface as natural function is uncovered through these practices.
There is no need to go back and forth between these methods. While they each work in different ways, they are each facets of the same realization.
Please pick one and work with it deeply.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss practicing with these methods.
