The realization came up today just how similar dreaming and being “born” are.
For the sake of clarity, being born in this context refers to any time an identity or feeling of a “me” that is the receiver of experience begins to coalesce or take shape.
As soon as this occurs, thoughts inevitably begin showing up relating to the past, future or alternate present that this “me” experiences. These feel and behave just like the stuff of dreams!
Perhaps dreaming is a sort of practice run or work out for the system of processes that take part in this type of process. They certainly feel as if they are constructed of the same type of “stuff”.
